Goals and objectives:
The Board of Directors functions as the governing body of GMDI. Board members manage and administrate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the work and actions of GMDI in a way that is consistent with the mission of GMDI.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors is made up of the officers of GMDI. The overarching goal of the Executive Committee is to provide leadership to the Board of Directors and the membership at large. The leadership aims to carry out the mission of GMDI and support the professional development and practice of GMDI members.
The work of the Executive Committee focuses on the specific responsibilities of the GMDI officers, and includes these objectives:
1. Ensuring the financial stability of GMDI
2. Bringing to the attention of the Board opportunities and concerns that affect the
activities and governance of GMDI
3. Maintaining consistency in Board decisions and following policy set by precedent
4. Ensuring that Board decisions are consistent with GMDI By-Laws
5. Conducting business that is in compliance with the code of ethics adopted by
the organization.
6. Representing GMDI when called to do so
7. Organizing and conducting business meetings of the membership of GMDI
Activities:
1. Organizing and guiding monthly conference call meetings
2. Holding Executive Committee conference calls when governance issues not requiring discussion by the full Board arise, and reporting the substance of those calls to the Board
3. Maintaining the organizational records and written history of GMDI
Future plans:
1. Developing a Policy Manual documenting precedents and process decisions made by the Board, to be used for future guidance
2. Develop a strategic plan for the focus and direction GMDI will have in upcoming years
